If you are new to the legal cannabis world, then one of the first things to understand is what we're talking about when we use the words indica, sativa, or hybrid.
These terms are intended to help us predict the effects you will experience by using a particular product, however, the truth is that these words are generalizations that aren't always perfect. Technically, these terms are botanical names that relate to the plant structure, not the effects, but they are widely used and you will encounter them because they've been used to create a general guide to effects. This can be helpful to newcomers.
The common understanding is that indica strains are relaxing or sedating, perfect for a movie or just before bed. Sativa strains are generally uplifting and energizing, mixing well with activities. Hybrid strains are, well, hybrid.
While technically these terms aren't very scientifically backed up to define effects, they do help us as we enter the process of exploring cannabis strains. More experienced users should eventually push past this classification and explore terpene profiles to get a more accurate prediction of the effects of a cannabis strain.
